This office leads the City’s comprehensive sustainability plan Greenworks, which has several components, such as clean and efficient energy; climate-prepared and carbon-neutral communities; healthy indoor and outdoor air; and much more.

This is a resource for independent, locally-owned businesses that are committed to improving their business practices to be more sustainable. Through different programs and initiatives, the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia educates business owners, policymakers and the public about how to create profitable enterprises that also protect the environment. 

Green Philly is a media organization and a hub for news-you-can-use about sustainability in Philadelphia. They also produce City Rising, a podcast, and maintain a community calendar with events.

The District’s five-year plan focuses on five areas: education for sustainability; consumption and waste; energy and efficiency; school greenscapes; and health schools, healthy living.

The United Nations has identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals that serve as a call-to-action for countries all around the world to address global challenges such as, poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The campaign in Philadelphia brings awareness of the goals to the region with a goal to spark change.
